During your visit to Dolphin marine magic, you will have a chance to meet many other animals aside from our marine mammals. let us introduce you to a few...
Little Penguins
- Born: Various
- Species: Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor)
Dolphin Marine Magic has a flock of 18 Little Penguins living at the park.
Most of the oldest birds have been rescued from local Coffs Harbour beaches with injuries that prevented their release whilst the younger penguins have either hatched right here at Dolphin Marine Magic or have transferred from other facilities as a part of the managed Australian Little Penguin breeding program.
All the penguins at Dolphin Marine Magic wear leg bands to make them easily identifiable to the Marine Mammal Specialists although a few particularly cheeky individuals (favorites of the Marine Mammal Specialists) can usually be recognised by staff on sight!
Plugga
- Born: Approx.1990's (Rescued wild hatchling)
- Species: Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas)
Plugga was first rescued because he had lost most of his rear left flipper which we assume had become a snack for something larger than him. Because if this injury, he probably would not have been able to survive in the wild.
When Plugga was came into our care, he was only the size of a fifty cent coin however because has been with us for so long, Plugga is now well over 70cm wide and a little longer than that from head to tail.
